Right guys and girls, I have one more of these "rent one get one free" vouchers to be used up before the end of January. So time to grab a couple of DvDs for the weekend.

Last weekend was "The Longest Yard" and the other was "Land of the dead".

The Longest Yard was mildly amusing. Nothing special. It's an american football remake of "Mean Machine" with a couple of amusing jokes. Mean Machine was a MUCH better film.

Land of the Dead was.... terrible...
My girlfriend couldnt watch it (the zombie eating people effects were a little OTT, but hey I thought they were good). Take the zombies out and you're left with a zero budget "dark future" mad-max style movie with terrible acting and a crap plot.

I wasnt impressed. Dawn of the Dead (the recent remake at least) was a fantastic zombie flick. This one was IMHO not worth watching even on terrestrial TV. And this is from someone who likes zombie flicks.

So the mission for tonight:

The choice is two of the following:

Wedding Crashers
Stealth (my vote )
Dukes of Hazard
Wolf Creek

Anything else decent out recently?

Wedding Crashers is LOL

I saw Infernal Affairs, an Asian crime flick the other day and thought it was very good. Could try that.

another vote for Wedding Crashers - thought it was great viewing - along the Old School lines but better.

A few that I've watched recently that I enjoyed:-

The Terminal - Typical Tom Hanks fest
Garden State - Zach Braff (from Scrubs) wrote, directed and starred
Million Dollar Baby - great film

Wedding crashes is good

Stealth is garbage, though if you only like the special effects you might like it.

Not sure on the other two.

I quite enjoyed it

Wolf Creek is very like 100 other horror movies and I didn't particularly enjoy it.

Wedding Crashers is good, as is The Island.

Ah well Just a thought since I'm going to Blockbuster unsupervised tonight The staff will be disappointed to miss out on the DVD-related argument I always have in there though.
