Fishing is reputedly one of the biggest participant sports in the UK. I'm sat here watching John Wilson's Go Fishing and out of the window can see half a dozen pike anglers pegged along the canal where I live.

I do a bit of lure fishing for pike myself, a fair bit of sea fishing and cast a fly for trout now and again. Although I've been on PH for 3 years now,I don't think I've ever seen an angling thread on here.

So does anyone else (apart from vixpy1)spend hours with their rod in their hand hoping for a nibble?

Used to be out every weekend as a kid - now karting has taken over, but still manage a bi-annual trip to the St Lawrence to catch some big carp.

Bloody hell, what did they do wrong? Wouldn't an ASBO have been more humane....?

Theres got to be a few of us on here!
Don't go so much now with a family but still manage 3 or 4 trips a year and always book holidays with local fishing being a consideration!
Which canal is it by your house?

Yep I go fishing - about once a year these days. Always in the sea, from the rocks on the shore.

My favourite is August and spinning/feathering for mackerel.

There is *nothing* like home-caught-ultra-fresh-mackeral done on the barbie.

me too,

been fishing for ages, one of the first proper hobbies i had.
began catching tiddlers on a 3 foot whip and now (try!) to catch bigger ones.
been a good season on the rivers this year been mainly after Chub on the great Ouse best one this season was a 5lb'er on a floating breadflake.
hopefully get the opportunity to catch some pike next season always wanted to catch a big pike.

There must have been a thread Sparky because I remember posting these terrible photos of the beautiful trout I caught in Washington state.
