Evening all,

Im currently in my last year at uni. In September, im entering my last year in education when I start my LPC to commence the 3 years it will take to become a qualified solicitor.

As such, although its inevitable that ill be chained to the mirror and the razor blade for the next few decades of my life, im going to go travelling this coming summer.

I can afford up to a grand on the flights, insurance, visas and YHA accommodation. The best route ive devised for just under a grand all in is below, and will last a month:

UK - Hong Kong - Sydney - Auckland - SAN FRAN - LA (poss. a detour to Vegas)- UK

Otherwise it’ll be euro-railing , which would be interesting, but ive already done most of Europe.

So over to the well travelled bunch that PH almost certainly are. Does my planned route sound good based on your experiences?

Also I have the opp to go with my long term girlfriend, and or my best mates from home. Any advice as to whether to make this a friend thing or to go with both mates and t'other half?

Any other travelling suggestions with how to dispose of my bag of sand?

I would suggest a stop over at Hawaii (between Auckland and San Fran) I did!

See some proper waves and chill out on Waikki beach

I'm intrigued by this observation.

Does that mean that you'll have to smarten yourself up and shave everyday or are you planning to develop a serious a coke habit?

How the hell can you do all that for a grand? Quite frankly, you shouldn't be asking for advice you should be dishing it out!!

Its actually £820 for all the flights and transfers inc taxes with these boys www.statravel.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/SID-0A536D8D-B4CB44FB/uk_division_web_live/hs.xsl/7.htm

, and the YHA and camping shouldnt come to more than £250. Just got to make my mind up when to go in the summer and who to go with!
