I've got a stinking cold - it kicked in yesterday and it's got worse today. I've been taking Lemsip, Paracetemol, and I'm currently consuming a shot (or two) of brandy.

Problem is, I've actually got work I need to do this week (unusual for me!) As such, has anyone got any rememdies for curing a cold - er, I mean the flu?

Man flu shrubbery27?

Not much you can do about that except lie in bed and try and glean some sympathy from your wifey.

If it is a cold well lotsa of fluid - no caffiene or booze - just water, vitamin C, some Paracetamol, plenty of rest nd that's about it. Should be done in a day or two.

I had some symptoms of a cold last week but kept on going as normal and ignored it,i kept telling myself its not a cold ,its not a cold ,and pushed through it,ide like to think its positive thinking but i guess ive been lucky,i havent had a cold in years.

In reality its probably because i put on loads of layers of clothing and keep my body temperature stable all the time.

Now repeat after me,
Its not a cold.
Its not a cold.
Its not a cold.
Its not a cold.

I'd go for as much whisky (malt by preference)before bed as you can get without getting a hangover plus massive amounts of vitamin C (say 2 grams at a time). Keep the vit C up - in the short term you can't take too much, the body will expel what it doesn't use.

Explosives or a trip up the OXO tower are my solution to any problem..

Try it, you won't be disapointed by the results!

Before you go to bed, down a shot of dark rum then follow it with a mug of hot milk and honey. Works a treat!

I'm still here - but only just!

I've lost my voice (which the wife's happy about), I've got ear ache, head ache, sore throat and I'm generally feeling really bad.
