Next month we are planning a Friday to Monday 4 day break somewhere not too far, as my wife is 33 weeks pregnant, the only choice I can see is a driving trip over the channel and a few nights in a luxury French Chateau (we've done this a few times down Epernay way and it was a great trip!)

Any recommendations from fellow PH'ders as to a good spot en France to spend a few nights as a last trip before mini-me appears? Thanks in advance!

Hi , if your looking somewhere close , this place may fit the bill close to Ferry routes in St Omer.

sorry i havent been myself

www.driveline.co.uk/greatgetaways/hotel-details.aGreat for: Chateau Tilques is ideal for anyone who wants a place with a unique touch of class. Chateau Tilques proudly radiates elegance and provides the perfect backdrop for a peaceful break.
Location: Chateau Tilques is near to St Omer.

Rooms: As with many of our chateaus in France, some reflect a contemporary style; others reflect the hotels heritage. Most are en suite and have a TV and a phone (some rooms in the modern wing have a balcony).

Pleasures: Relax in the stylish restaurant (based in a converted stable house) and sample the food - Chateau Tilques offers some of the finest in the region.

Try the chateau de cocove near Calais. Brilliant food, good service. We have stayed there a few times, bit rustic, but all the better for it.

My recommendation is to try Les Trois Mousquetaires in Aire Sur La Lys; but an hour and 30 mins from Calais along an excellent motorway (by excellent I mean empty!). You can choose rooms with four poster beds and the restaurant, for a hotel, is excellent (or was when I took my pregnant wife there!). Whilst there, take Madame for a romantic and very chic meal at Les Crayeres. An hotel restaurant in Reims owned by chef Gerard Boyer, one of Frances most famous. A three star michelin restaurant with food to blow you away. It'll cost a few quid (£300 ish for the pair of you) but it will be an experience to last a lifetime. You could do a trip around the cellars of Pommery champagne whilst you are there, it is only across the road! Bon appetit!
