I (re)built my TR6. I didn't actually fabricate the components, but I did put them all together, over a period of years, like Grandad's Broom.

1976 Ford Escort though in fairness I didn't exactly pull it completely apart

I did do a fairly large Diorama (1.5m square roughly) depicting a small segment of a battlefield mid battle that was rather large and that was pretty much all from scratch, took bloody ages

helped build a house, some office units and 3 industrial warehouses in my gap year, biggest was 10000 sq foot floor area, we had to take the old farm barns down using a home made basket on our merlo handler, moves around quite alot when your 7 metres off the ground.

An electric scooter for my A level DT project. Was pretty cool, fabricated a frame, steering shafts, axle bearings, motor mounts etc. It was a real sense of acheivement when I finsished it. Other than that my Rally Car, but I rebuilt that rather than actually building it....

Once rebuilt bit by bit a 71 Mach1 plus ive restored a couple of sierras and mechanics and cleaned and rebuilt the chassis and suspension on my Black ZR-1.

Ive built houses on my own, extensions, garages, walls, manholes and have enjoyed the challenge, mainly when i had my own little building firm.

I would hand dig the footings most of the time ,do all the groundwork then i would load it all out with the hod do the scaffold then build it,i found it was the best thing for all round fitness.

My biggest challenge was building a huge heated self filling and emtying swimming pool for a boss of a taxi firm,i had to hand dig it as it had awkward access then barrow the chalk into skips, needless to say i had first swim, the deep end was 7'it was about 15' by about 30'...great project.

My recent challenge was to rebuild my 600+ hp ZR-1 engine, which was pretty difficult as it has 4 cams and learning to time it was a SOB,i timed it 14 times before i was satisfied.

I build models all the time.

Timing a 4 cam 7litre V8,made the temp chain tensioners aswell

A 6 post hydraulic car lift for the Bank of Japan in London. 10ft wide, 36ft long and 12ft high - That was in 1990 when I worked as a lift engineer, before I became a shinny arsed IT bod.

Hummm. As a contributor I helped put together Saudi Aramco's new x-ray bay at Dhahran which has walls 4 feet thick and a 26-tonne door. But since my contribution was just the radiation warning and control systems I don't think I can claim that one

I also single-handedly assembled a 'hot cell' which is a lead-block chamber for handling radioactive substances (think Homer Simpson and his tongs) - with the exception of the base and the roof slab which had to be forklifted, I manhandled the best part of 7 tonnes of lead blocks in two days. Whilst an idle Arab sat and watched me...

I have also designed and fabricated from scratch my infamous rat-nuking radiation cabinets which comprise 1 tonne of lead in slabs 2" thick, all positioned by hand with the result that the lead door, which weighs 250 lb alone, slides up and down with 1mm clearance all round Good job really, since I forgot to design in any means of adjusting it...
