...Folks I'm going to Dubai in a few weeks and I've heard that watches and jewellery are cheap out there.... does any one here have any experience in buying an expensive watch out there (Omega, Breitling etc), doses anyone know decent authorised dealers etc, or is the cheapest place likely to be Dubai duty free?? Any ideas on what the price difference is in comparison to UK???

thanks

folks.....

the old man brought his watch tax free out there some time ago, came with all the papers etc

you would do well to find a better discount on a britey than at 25%, I think thats what www.jomashop.com offer..

I personally have got better value than buying duty free by getting my two Tags, the F1 and the Monza from the USA and getting someone to bring it back for me.. my monza worked out at £650 compared to £1250, and my beater f1 £250 compared to £450 from the chaps at www.watchclick.com

My omega came from these guys and very good they were too

www.watchfinder.co.uk

Do some homework before you buy because just cos its duty free doesnt mean its cheaper..

Good luck

Be very wary of buying a watch from abroad. Not necessarily because it might be fake, but more because if Customs nab you, you will pay more than the difference.

I bought a tag from Dubai a good few years ago. Got it from karama market, where they have lots of Jewellry shops. It was a genuine, and came with all the proper bits and bobs, it was just a few hundred quid cheaper. Prices started to get not so cheap in recent years, but still worth the bother. Never had a problem bringing stuff back from Dubai. best thing to do is to wear your watch, and maybe post the box back if you are worried about mr taxman.

I found jewelery and electronics to be about 10% cheaper.
Nice, but not worth a special trip there..

Mate, go to the gold market. There's a few jewellers around there that do discounts. But haggle on price, say that you've been offered the watch cheaper elsewhere.

Good luck.

True, but you don't have to spend much time there to get a bargain. I got a TAG for nearly half price. - Can't argue with that.
