"Choice" gift vouchers - are they bust?
Discussion
At Christmas I gave each of my (85) staff £60 in "Choice" gift vouchers.
One of them went to buy something yesterday and was told that the company has gone belly up, and that shops are not accepting these vouchers. Needless-to-say, it's a lot of money we've potentially wasted. Does anyone know the score?

I've just spoken to the Voucher Association, and they've confirmed that PriceWaterhouseCoopers have been called in to Choice Gift Vouchers. Apparently a couple of their major suppliers have failed to pay bills, and the whole thing is on a slippery slope. There's a chance that a buyer will be found for the company, but until then shops won't be accepting Choice vouchers.
Their advice was to go back to the agent you bought them from and try for a refund.
My Mum and my auntie, both pensioners, spend all year saving up for this crap. They only got the year's allocation of vouchers in December - I foresee trouble ahead when I tell them this...

What really gets me is that the senior managers of such companies will know many months in advance that it's heading for such a crisis, and yet they still take the hard earned cash from the punters. My staff, potentially, could lose about £5000.
Ouch. I'm not entirely sure of the extent of the damage here yet - certainly at least £600 worth.
Nice Griff, BTW

Has anyone got a pointer to a website giving information about this?
No.
But these people were very helpful on the phone, and they say they'll be updating their website with news shortly.

The most info I can add is that in the window at Ethal Austin, there is a sign saying they no longer accept Choice vouchers due to the company (choice) going into administration.

Steve, where did you get your vouchers from? I've just been talking to my Mum, the company that sold her hers are happy to replace them for other vouchers. It might be worth going back to your agent and seeing what they can do for you.
Or did you buy from Choice directly?
My PA got them - not sure where from though. She's on the case right now!
