this series of pics and discussion www.citynoise.org/article/2770

the story supposedly goes, "man throws rubbish out of his car window in the street, female cycle courier sees it, takes offense, opens the guys door and throws it back in his car. Man retaliates by throwing two cups of coffee at her. She may or may not have keyed his car at this point. He then gets out and starts attacking her bike, scuffle ensues, bystanders step in. man threatens photographer with bat"

I hate car-window litterers, he deserved that stuff back in his car, the coffee throwing is out of order, but I hate car-keyers too (if that's what she did)

Feckin doo-gooders. While I don't agree with littering, she was out of order to throw the stuff back in his car. Her actions were confrontational and she got a confontation. What did she expect? A thank you? She should have reported him if she wanted to do something about it. Keying someones car in response to throwing litter out is simply not acceptable.

Not good, but at the same time, if you're going to react by throwing rubbish back into a car, accept that things can escalate.

Littering is one of those minor offences that can cause a lot of upset. Like the tts that used to sit on my Dad's wall waiting for the bus and then chuck their chip papers behind them into the garden once the bus came.

Or the tts that throw their fag ends out of their car when they're passing you by.

this reply makes an excellent point though

"It's a car, not his penis. Part of the problem is the attachment that weirdos get to their cars. For some reason otherwise ordinary people accept violence and commit violent acts, up to and including murder, because of a real or percieved affront regarding their automobile. It's just a car and it can't make you special, no one living in the real world should care what it looks like to the point of accepting violent behavior."

Nah, throwing it back in his face isn't confrontational. If for some reason I littered and someone saw it and threw it back in I'd feel genuinely bad that I'd made someone offended and go out of their way to do that!

The bloke is a tosser... NO excuse for throwing anything not nautral and bio degradable from your car (not in cities, but on a country lane, and apple core is helping the tree spread it's seeds!)

The amount of rubbish at the side of roads and dumped outside beauty spots and pull in's out in the countryside makes me feel sick. I'd honestly ram the wrapper in their faces if I saw them doing it. Selfish gits!

I find this shocking an ordinary citizen stands up to the scum who are the bane of modern life and you side with the low life who assaults a woman.

No, the ordinary police will do just fine. I don't think there are special litter police as yet.

Someone who was there said:
It's too bad that people just don't investigate real information rather than just assuming lots of crap that is based on speculation.
The blond in the picture is his Fiancé. What happened is that they went to the little deli in that area (sorry, I forget its name). The bought stuff. What she states actually happened is that both her and her fiancé had bags of deli items. With their hands full, apparently, one of the bags fell to the ground. They simply didn't notice it. I've done that myself. Like she stated on a CFRB interview, they wouldn't knowingly throw away good food that they just bought!

As they drove away, this idiot courier on her bike saw the bag there and (wait for it) ASS-U-ME ed that they threw it out and she started the who bullshit by opening the door of the car and throwing the bag in at them both.

The driver got pissed and was attempting to hold her there until the police arrived. After all, under the Rules, she committed an assault.

Once the police arrive and discovered what we going on, they ran the usual checks on both parties. As it turns out, this lovely "lady" courier HAS A HISTORY OF DOING THIS VERY THING!!!! and has been to court over this.

Psychotic? You be the judge! LOL

I'll be honest. When I first heard what had happened, without knowing the "other side of the story", I too sided with the cyclist.

But once I found out that the dropped bag was not intentional AND that she has a history with police for this very action, I realized that I too jumped too quickly to the wrong conclusion.

Cheers to all!

What, the view that throwing litter in the street is unacceptable? I share it.
