After waiting to get a table here for over six months, myself, Mrs Tree and some friends went to Gordon Ramsay's last night.
Obviously after the recent TV shows and numerous media praise we went with high expectations.

We were BLOWN away. This was almost a sexual experience of the cullonary nature.
The presentation, imagination and service were second to none. It certainly lived up to, and exceeded it's reputation as one of the worlds finest restaurants.
All 4 of us chose the tasting menu, which involved 8 courses, selecting the best of the Ala Carte.

Ok, this wasn't a cheap experience, at £100 per head (without wine) but if you ever get the opportunity you just have to go.
The finest meal I've ever had bar none !!!

Here's the Menu Prestige.

Salmon and filo , and Avacodo filo aperatives.

Mosiaque of frois gras with Peking Duck

Pan fried sea scallops with smoked salmon and horseradish

Sauteed fillet of turbot, tagliatelle, coriander and citrus veloute

Cannon of Cornish lamb with confit shoulder and thyme jus

Roasted fillet of Angus beef with braised cheeks and Barolo sauce

selection of French cheeses

pre desert (champagne, mint and lime culee)

Charentaid melon with fromage frais and mint

Lime parfait with nonecomb and chocolate sauce

only probelm now is everywhere else will never be as good

Stu, next time take Mrs S to Le Manoir.

And stay the night too. Not been to GR's, but I'm sure Le Manoir will be of the same calibre.

Nice one.

Greg, I've been lucky enough to truy some top restaurants in my time. Michelle Roux's Le Gacroche, Petrus, Le Pisas (Venice) to name but a few. (sorry name dropping )
The difference here, was this was just OFF the planet compared to anywhere else i have ever eaten.

Superb.

Rumour has it that you can get in there on a Sunday quite easily? Or is that rumour only?

Good lad for bothering to wait, there is a quicker way but I wont tell you now as it will just annoy you no doubt.

Marvellous isnt it?

You feel truly special the moment you walk through the door, brilliant really.

Echo what Greg says about Le Manoir, thats my personal fave, went there first as a chauffer and they give you a voucher for the local pub so you dont make the place look untidy for other guests...

£90 a head for the taster menu.
12.5% service added on.

with wine and Champagne, the bill came to £650 and we didn't go silly with the drink either.

The wine list had one bottle for £11,000

Lunch is easier (by far) to get in. They only let you book a month in advance. Mrs S and I have been twice. Food is stunning, and the service is very good too.

Mind you Shady, if you think Ramsay is good, get yourself to Paris and visit "Pierre Gagnaire". Food so good, it actually made me cry. Mrs S has seen me speechless before, but never in tears over food!!

I wasn't impressed with the Fat Duck. Over-rated, over fussy and over priced.

We're going back to the "Greenhouse" in a couple of weeks to see if it was as good as the last time. Anyone tried them?

The fat duck was pretty good when I went there in December. Service was polite and attentive and the food was of a high standard. For the money I thought it was ever so slightly over priced however.

Looking forward to going to Gordons gaff in the near future..

Pah, barely even trying. I've been to one restaurant where they had a $25,000 cognac. Tempted as I was, I decided against, because it was part of a tasting menu of 6 cognacs, all at $25,000! I didn't bother asking whether it was by the bottle or glass....

www.gordonramsay.com

Bookings are for one calendar month in advance. First come first serve basis. Phone up at 09:01 to try and get in. Remember it took me 6 months
We were surprised just how small the place is. Only about 15 tables.

Its not really, the wine can slide you up the profanity scale a significant amount though.
