Hi

I'm potentially buying a house on Twickenham Green. I know the area well'ish (own rugby debentures) but never really spent that much time in the town. I thought it looked really nice, great pubs, resturants, greenary.

Is that the case? Or am i missing a real rough side to twickers?

I've lived in East London for the past 10 years, and need a complete change of sceenary.

James.

The g/f lives in Twickers and loves it... indeed, I'll be over to visit at the weekend and will be partaking of the ale and eating some top nosh!

In my opinion, the only issue you are likely to have is that it might take you a few weeks to get used to being under the flight path, but it's not 24x7 as they switch it around.

If that is LCY flightpath you are referring to I wouldnt worry too much, restrictions so only quiet a/c can fly from that strip.

I would expect it to be the LHR flightpath which is somewhat noisier

James - I live close by near to Mortlake/Richmond and drive through Twickenham daily to work. Great location, really good access out to SW/South Coast, but also well placed to get into Central London if you need to from Richmond nearby. I am under the flightpath and to be honest, it really is something that you get used to quickly. Look forward to seeing you driving around the area!

Twickenham green should be very nice. Occasionaly when the wind changes direction you will get an aweful whiff of the Isleworth sewage works I suspect. I lived in Isleworth for a couple of years and for a couple of days a month, particularly in the summer, it smelled horrible. Twickers green is far enough away to make that a very rare problem.

Ahh, my mistake! I thought Twickenham was very central, my London geography isn't as good as I thought.

Thanks for all your help guys.

So basically, if i don't mind the odd occasional whiff of pooh, and can live with half a dozen Boeings overhead it's the place for me!

Marvellous.

I'd spend a few days there before commiting

We're out in Windsor and the planes can be somewhat opressive even out here if the runway is busy.

Every 60 seconds and they arent quiet...

Don't worry, we live up the road from plotloss ( englefield green ) and the flights there are quite noisy but I have also spent a lot of time in Twics, few months at a mates house and the plane noise isn't bad and it isn't every 60 seconds, it is the thing you get used to and can't hear after a week or two. Don't let that put you off, it is wicked, everything is right there and it is not too expensive.

Hello,

Twickenham is a great place and reasonably good value for money compared to surrounding areas - I've lived there for three years - just down the road from Twickenham Green in Strawberry Hill in fact. Aircraft noise is not an issue really, you only notice when they switch it round and take off and turn south over Twickers.

If you need any specific info - drop me a line.

Rgds,

SHED

P.S - cracking bistro/restuarant on the green called Arthurs, highly recommended!

P.P.S – I’ve also lived in East London – couldn’t get away quick enough!, Twickenham has more of a village atmosphere and your neighbours actually talk to you!

Also take into account that it becomes a nightmare on matchdays. If you always go to the game, great, if not, go somewhere else, or stay in the pub *all* day.
My in-laws live in the area and you do get used to the planes (they are on the flight path most days, and much closer than Twickenham).
I'd live there if I could afford the sort of house I want.
