Misses visits Lloyds Bank today to transfer money from her (lloyds) account to my (lloyds) account only to be told you cannot transfer money between accounts due to money laundering!
WTF !

Is this a joke or what ?

Who do I contact at Lloyds to go bezerk at ?!

(Not the first time Lloyds have done this to us by the way)

How odd. Never had that problem myself- maybe the only way you could do it would be by asking her to pay you by cheque.

They're not called a bunch of bankers for nothing I guess

I found Llyods to be very unsympathetic when I was a customer. Vote with your feet, and move the accounts (I did and haven't looked back). Most banks will do all the leg work for you.
I would start with the manager at the branch your wife visited, and progress to regioanl manager.

surely they are fibbing.

If it was a requirement for ML, the other banks would likely ban it too. AFAIK lloyds infrastructure is fully capable of tracking transactions between their accounts.

Utter bollox, I can do a transfer from any account I have at Lloyds to any other whether it be my wife's Personal account at Lloyds or A.N.Other at another bank. The muppet is lying to you.

The branch manager would be the best place to start.

Cant be right. I am with Lloyds, me and the other half have a joint current account, and she has her own current account, I often transfer money from our joint account, to her one, definatly out of order if they are telling you any different I think

Would anyone be interested in me posting a scan of the handwritten letter I received from Lloyds the other day about an account? It looks like it has been written by a five year old and really is the most appaling way a bank could ever hope to communicate with its customers.

I recently discovered that if i want to take out more money from my account than the cash machine will let me (so over £300), I have to write a cheque to cash and go to the counter. Why, in this electronic age, can't they just use my card to let me have the cash?

They did in the Woolwich when I worked there.

Hand over your card, sign and take your money.

I am suprised that Lloyds would not transfer between accounts. I know in my last few years high street banking with the Woolwich (owned by Barclays), they were getting quite hot on transferring between accounts.

I suggest you inform Lloyds that you are switching to another bank! I would suggest a Nationwide Flex A/C. As a "building society" they offer a far superior service.
