seems a dumb question and should be obvious but todays office topic here is what are the bits of an inch called - ie like milimetres for a centimetre - cant find the answer anywhere!
ah good point - yes its friday brain not here! having said that is there no actual name for the bits a search on google says they used to be called lines are they still?
"The basic English unit of length was the yard of three feet, or the fathom of six. Each English foot was divided into 12 inches, and each inch into 3 barleycorns or 12 lines."
