For those of us who are old enough to remember, it was 35 years ago today that we gave up our Pounds, Shillings and Pence for Pounds and Pence.

I remember it well.

I was just getting to grips with adding up in 12s when they changed it.

Im too young to remember before decimalisation, must have been terrible with miles per hour, galons, counting calories....oh wait

I can remember how it was used as an excuse to ramp up prices for no good reason.

I was 9 and had a great time conning old people out of more money than was honestly decent. 15 pence love it should be 2 shilling really but they are on offer.

Remember it well, I was so releived I could forget my 11 & 12 times tables from that point forward .
Seem to remember them phasing out the likes of the farthing and thrupenny bit first though .

Is that the real reason why it's traditional to teach up to the 12 times table?

Yep I remember the plastic currency converters everyone had to work the prices out with..
