Got back from Amalfi last night... Lovely mini break visiting Pompei, Vesuvius etc...

But...

The back of the house is currently boarded with a few sheets of ply; we're having the kitchen / dining room extended. The floor joists are in place and while we wait for plasterers / sparkies / plumbers to finish up, there are a few gaps in the flooring.

Over the five nights we were away, it seems a fox or two have been squatting in the house. Downstairs stinks of tom-cat. Going upstairs we're greetd with a similar smell - but it's worse - there are big urine stains all over the bed; shoes have been chewed and the linen basket has also been soiled. We had no bed to sleep in last night.

What can we do do rid the marked scent?

And am I allowed to kill foxes in a way I see fit?

Like when Prince Charles visited Halesowen, wondered whether to wear flat cap or trilby followed Queen's advice "Wear the fox hat"

Ok. wifey has just updated me with what else she found today while cleaning up the mess...

Straps on two pairs of her shoes: chewed;

Corners of sofa cushions and also one corner of sofa: chewed;

and my slippers: pee'd on.

Do foxes do this? I thought magpies vandalised your home?? Also, the kitchen had a couple of boxes of cereal on the side, the cupboards had packs of food and stuff in them, surely, foxes are scavenging for food??

I don't get it.

Either they do... or... how well do you know the sparkies?

You can kill them, you just can torture them - seems fair, if they are a risk... but you could just remove it.
