Ron Howard's love affair with Apollo continues. This looks fabulous, but is only getting a limited release here in the UK.

Given how wonderful Apollo 13 is (one of the best films ever made IMO) deffo looking forward to this.

Pity it's not being shown locally.

If it's anything like Apollo 11, I'll be dragging the missus to watch this.

Having been to Canaveral twice to do the Apollo tour, it's simply the bravest, most daring and technically most challenging thing man has ever attempted.

I'm a cynical old git at the best of times but I absolutely marvelled at how they did it, in such a timespan when in 1961 the US space effort was a joke and in 8 years was absolutely the finest engineering effort the world had ever seen.

Is it a documentary or a new feature film?

It's a documentary which is being shown in cinemas (sadly too few). Much of the original footage has bbeen sourced from original negatives and digitally remastered so everyone is saying that Apollo has never looked better.

It's amazing how good the special effects were back then...

Looks very good but still no interview with Armstrong. The most publicity shy famous person ever.

If you see him these days he looks very old and a bit frail, the guy will always be a hero in my book though.

Absolutely. Growing old takes none of his achievements away! I find it a shame that he doesn't (or didn't) make more public appearances though - Buzz can be found at loads of events each year. Armstrong is pretty vocal that he isn't a hero and was just one of the 20,000 people who worked on Apollo.

I find it so sad that in maybe 15 years time none of these guys will be with us anymore and the firsthand knowledge of space exploration will be lost. Hopefully we find the drive to return soon!

I hope that they will be replaced by a new generation who made it to Mars and back!

With the amount of cr4p hollywood puts out each year why does this not get a general release. Most men of my vintage (26 years) would love to see a film/documentary about the apollo missions, we're all addicted to discovery and national geographic channels because of stuff like this.

It annoys me that we are credited with so little intelligence by corporate types that they dont think this film would do fantastically well if put on general release.
