Good boxer against good martial artist?
Discussion
I often thought of this. I notice that the "ultimate Fighter" types, while being strong and multi-faceted, are rather slower and less trained on the punching aspect. Therefore, although a boxer only punches, that punch will be so much more rapid and effective as to give him the edge. So, if the boxer avoids the kicks, tackles, etc and gets in the first punch or two....I say he wins.

MMA kicks everyone ass.
End of thread.
Why:
Because we train in all arts, not one style - boxers are usless when it comes to anything other than punching.
That about sums it up for me... MMA likes of GSP , Silvia , Liddell would destroy a boxer in an "open" fight with a boxer the same weight.End of thread.

There is a youtube video of a semi-famous boxer geting a proper hiding from a little thai boxer.
Boxer doesnt stand a chance.
Just watch the ultimate fighter type things. Ability to punch in the face well is prett irrelevant in those.

My main reason for backing the boxer is that kicks are all very well, and can be quite painful for the recipient, but if you want to make someone unconscious (as good a way of ending the fight as any) then blows to the head are required, and that's what boxers specialise in.
of course its not possible to kick/knee someone in the head is it?Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
