Evening all,

I'm looking at a neat sound solution to fit under my 42" Plasma.

Yamaha do a YSP-500 and an HTY-750, both seem good, but i can't differentiate between them, anyone have either?

Or does anyone have any opinions on sound projectors in general, as opposed to 6-speakers and a mile of cable?

IIRC Derestrictor does. Even if he doesn't he's the man to talk to.

I had the YSP1000 a while ago. Does a pretty good job, but is very 'room dependant'. Regular shaped rooms are better. Also, you'll probably want a sub with it, as it's a little light on bass.

Its a miracle solution that will be pants.

Don't bother. Stick with cables and speakers.

Or Plotloss.

While I understand PoD's reservations, I seem to remember that the Yamaha actually received some acclaim

They are actually very good for what they are, deceptively good in fact.

In comparison to a toy Sat/Sub setup they hold up remarkably well.

If you really cant run the wire then they're an ideal compromise, if however you can run the wire then do so as your options are far far far greater.

just ordered a denon dht-fs3 'soundbar'. reviews seem mixed, but the gist i get is that your average person who likes to watch the odd film and wants to play music via their ipod, thinks it's great. audiophiles say it's lacking this and that frequency/ depth etc etc.

i'm in the former group, so should be good!
