A few people were asking in a thread which was deep-sixed while I was typing an explanation. The custard test is simply a test for you to prove you are who you say you are, or that you in fact, own the car you claim to. A way of sorting the real McCoy from the Snide. Let's say for example that you had participated in a documentary on trench warfare and were discussing it with a group of mature adults who doubted that you were in fact the private who appeared in the video. All you need to do is post a clear photo of yourself(let's just leave videos out of it for the moment) holding a tin of Bird's custard. A loaf of bread will suffice if custard is too difficult. That way we know you're Kosher.

You would have thought so but an awful lot didn't seem to know.

Obviously does work if a newbie posts claiming to be A.) a model or, B.) the owner of a Veyron.

Needs voting enabled for photoshop contest!

It is generally useful however if someone has already claimed to be a specific person - ie, this is a photo/video of me. If it really is, they can prove they are the person behind the username.

Same goes for cars - tin of birds custard on the dashboard, taken through the windscreen. It's pretty easy to spot a doctored photo which has already been seen in undoctored form hundreds of times.
