What's the most out of date food you've ever eaten?

Following on from the wasted food thread.
Once when my sister was moving house and didn't have the space to take the contents of her kitchen cupboards with her so I took home a cherry bakewell tart amongst other things. I saw that the sell by date was a few days out but things like that have never bothered me, but after eating it I thought it tasted a bit weird so checked the box. It turned out to be a year and a few days out of date. Didn't make me ill though.

People make the mistake of thinking they will become ill by eating out of date food. However it depends on the food type.
Any food package with an expire date marked as " best before "....is very unlikely to make you ill. It will simply not taste, or appear as good as it should.
But in the case out " eat before / use by date " these foods are highly likely to have an effect on the old digestion...

My dad sold his boat a few years ago and we found some bottles of lager on it when clearing it out. I took 5 of them and went to a party. Drank 4 of them and I was very very ill for the rest of the night. I felt sick for the following 2 days... I didnt know why I was so ill after 4 bottles! Checked the one I didnt drink and it turns out they were a year out of date! Never again....
A few years ago, I was on an adventure training excercise with some Air Cadets, One of hem had in his emergency rations some boiled sweets that his grndfather had given him, They were from an MOD compo pack dated 1968, they were very sticky & took ages to get the paper wrapper off the actual sweet, but still tasted OK.
I know my grandfather opened a tin of 10 year old condensed milk, stirred it with the end of his pencil (it had a similar viscosity to PVA glue) and drank it 
I am told that it's because when he was fighting in WW2, there was a massive shortage of food where he was posted at, and that you had an appreciation for anything edible.

I bet the answer to this question for just about everyone is a jar or bottle of sauce of some kind. Most of them have a best before date probably 3 or 4 years hence, but if you read the small print on the label, that is before they are opened and once opened, consume within 3 days!
I bet we've all got a jar that looks in date, but actually should've been eaten two years ago!
