Lovely generous helpful people please? band logo
Discussion
Slightly cheeky request for free help because i'm useless!
I was wondering if any of you lovely generous people would be able to do me a huge huge favour. I need to design a logo for my band (monkey bomb - www.monkeybomb.co.uk), but I've tried and failed miserably. I've noticed a lot of very expertly done photoshopping on here, and I'm sure what i need would take no time at all if you actually had any idea what you were doing.
So, if anyone has nothing better to do with their time, and feel like designing a logo for a band called monkey bomb (my idea was a cartoon monkey's head with a fuse), i would love you for ever. I'm sure i could promise some lovely worthless reward like a CD of our demo and several guestlist places to our gigs forever!
I'll love anyone forever if you can help (or not, if that would be more of an insentive).
Thanks
Sam

Its full of teeny boppers with nowt better to do, some of em are shit hot at photoshop though.
Its probably one of the best forums on the net for trolling, some of the kids on there are right w*nkers, soo easy to get a 'lively debate' going.

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming! I knew you were all lovely people!
If anyone else actually wants a copy of the demo (it's sort of mindless pop-rock, a bit like Ash or the Wildhearts i suppose), you're more than welcome. But not too many, cause then i'll have no money.
Also, if anyone knows any vocalists or bassists in London, then I'd love to know, because we had an unfortunate incident recently, and the vocalist and bassist are no more (in a monkey bomb sense, not a real life sense!). Or in fact if anyone fancies giving us a record deal, that would be equally appreciated.

Thinking about it, I think i can do that myself using the free webspace that i use for the (currently very small) website we've got. I'll see if I can work it out, and if not, I'll get back to you
In case anyone is interested, some of our songs are now up on the internet (thanks to alunr), so I'd be very interested if anyone would have a listen and let me know what you think. They're not meant to be fantastic recordings, but as much criticism as you can give would be fantastic.

Honestly?
The leaving of your vocalist is a blessing, out of tune, no expression and flat. no projection and a poor range. He is not a singer and has had no vocal training which is apparent. However, its not too hard to learn.
"OH"
My advice?
Try a female lead vocal
"Almost Famous"
Vocal is weak, but i like the song
"Jumping Ship"
Technically a good song, very catchy. Again lost it on the vocals, you need to try with backing vocals to harmonize to add some depth.
"Monkey"
Great intro, bad vocals again.
You also need backing vocals to add some "oomph"

Pull your trousers up and say what you mean.

One thing i forgot to mention is that these demos weren't recorded with our old singer! His vocals just didn't work anyway, and so these songs feature my beautiful voice. As you have pointed out, I am a drummer, not a singer, and was only singing to fill in the gap before finding a proper one!
Overall then, if you include better production and someone who can sing, relatively positive?
I really like the music, whilst not exactly breakthrough in terms of originality there is certainly a winning formula to song writing and I think you've found it.
As you said now's the time to put the effort into production and finding the right voice to front the band. The only advice I can give is when you try people out for the job try to have a wide range of people with different ranges and styles. Dont forget as well that you as a band may need to experiment with keys as the right singer might require the song played in a different key to set them both off.
Am i boring you yet?!

thanks for the advice. We've already had to change keys before with the last singer on a couple of the songs, so that shouldn't cause too many problems.
Is anyone else going to give an opinion? please? I want at least one person to despise it!!
