When the bandage came off my hand, and my pointy finger was 10mm shorter than before the accident, and looked like something from a horror film, blown up like a cumberland sausage with masses of stitches holding over stretched skin together. Minus a tendon and mucho bone. To be honest it was utterly horrific and for a whole minute I thought it was a special effects hand they put on the table when I blinked. Then it hit home, it was real. And I had to live with it. That hurt more than the injury (painless) and the operations (also painless). Proper medical drugs *rock* ! and god save the NHS, they were truly excellent and I couldn't have asked for better care.

Anyone got better of worse?

Take it easy out there. Keep it shiney side up!

Just about two years ago, I fell over giving a piggy back and snapped my left arm off. Four breaks in the elbow and a compound fracture to the Humerus. Six operations and a skin graft later I have about 40% functionality.

After the sixth Doctor had come in to look at it and take a picture, I decided I'd better have one and it is grim.

The surgeons were excellent and it makes you glad to live in a country like this, because I would have probably died from either blood loss or infection had I been in a country without the facilities we have (Consultant Surgeons words).

You may be aware of joggers nipple, where the chafing of a t-shirt, or whatever, rubs at your boobies until they hurt. Well, let me tell you that joggers c0ck is a whole different ball (snigger) game. Imagine finishing a 10k run and, needing a quick wazz, discovering some kind of jabberclacker car crash in your undies. Oof.

hurl I dislocated my knee and it was facing up while the other one was pointing out straight. You have my sympathy yes

An old girlfriend of mine was walking along the pavement with her 5 year old son when a 7.5 tonne hire lorry came past her but the ratcliffe tail-lift had broken off, and it was swung out alongside the vehicle. It caught her at about 50mph, taking half her leg off in one go and she managed to stay together and look after her young son until the emergency services came along. She was a pretty blonde thing with a lot of confidence and now her days of wearing skirts and shorts are over.

She recently got paid out £14k in compensation but has got a ruined leg and has been through several really nasty operations to save her leg. Miraculously she is now nearly fully recovered eek

Stigmundfreud will win this if you see the video clip of his accident.. no smilees for that, the fact he managed to walk away from it proves there is a God.

Just about to mention that, looked at it a few times, terrifying stuff.

Personally, I have broken a collar bone which punctured my skin.

Also had a doctor tell me that another 2 mm of movement in my spine and I would have been paraplegic after I fell of a ladder.

I was born with a deformed spine, spent 18 months in plaster as a baby, but remember nothing about that one.

I've had my right foot pointing in completely the wrong direction, didn't break a bone but the resultant swelling and bruising lasted months.

I've managed to damage a testicle, it was her fault, she sneezed.

I've also got a female friend who delights in telling the tale of breaking a blokes cock whilst shagging him.

Good lordy that poor Lass with her Son frown That must have been before they made Agri/Builder machines to pin the arm into place whilst in transport.
After a accident about 15 years ago when a JCB digger arm moved 90' and wiped out 5 cars injuring everyone in the cars and killing Two I think. That's what brought the Law in frown.

I once sat on my own testicle while mounting a bicycle... I also severely duffed up my ankle on board the vessel one wet, rough night. Was walking down some outside stairs, and the vessel was whacked with a wave, and my foot slipped off the step I was on, and onto the next... Unfortunately it was at a 90 degree angle, and hurt like a bh. It swelled up, but couldn't get to a doctors for the remainder of the trip, so had a huge swollen ankle that wouldn't fit into my rigger boots. Still, I carried on hopping round the deck working.

My angle grinder 'spat' out at me back in April doing the fastback ...

Had one of these on it (new)

Which was spinning bloody fast ... a good few thousand rpm.

Hit me in the forehead, and then neck ... cue lots of blood and seven stitches.

And now got a nice scar ...

Not serious, but fairly scary.
My folks used to keep chickens to boost the home income and I used to go out, whilst walking our dog, and pick chickweed for them. In one very rich patch, I pushed my hand down to pull up as much stem as possible (which makes the egg yolks very deep yellow); as I brought up a handful of chickweed, I felt a sharp pain in my wrist and my fingers went numb. As I lifted my hand, I saw a length of rusty barbed wire buried to the hilt in my wrist, just below the 'heel' of my hand. The wire clipping was about two feet long and, having the presence of mind not to remove it, I held it in place and began to walk home with our elderly Beagle sauntering after me. By pure luck, where the field-gate met the road, a Panda car had pulled over and the driver was having a crafty fag (when tobacco was legal...). I showed him what had happened and he radioed for an ambulance. I was taken to A&E and he ran the dog home.
In casualty, they removed the wire - the wound did not bleed and, as soon as the wire was out, feeling returned to my fingers. I had been a lucky little sod as the barb had missed all the major structures in my wrist by less than a millimetre.
The most painful part of the whole thing was the Tetanus jab in my arse!

Put my hand in a blender and turned it on a few years ago whilst trying to clean out the previous evenings cocktails. It was an ice blender. Suprisingly it did not hurt. I had to repaint the ceiling.. and regrout the kitchen wall tiles. Lucky I only caught one finger but tendons and the like are best left inside the skin. I remember standing there thinking I had better not feint, whilst my stomach was doing strange things and my head was slowly trying to catch up. The most sensible thing at the time seemed to be to wrap the whole mess in clingfilm and get myself off to casulty. Not my finest moment and i'm still slightly nervous around blenders and NEVER clean them when I have a hangover. Finger still hurts pretty much all the time.

How about this one, 4" angle grinder with a rotary hacksaw blade kicked back.

The cut went deeper than the bone but fortunately fell neatly between them, so no lasting damage done

A good feed for the ants though rofl
