Tell me about kids' micro scooters

Please!

Looking to get a fold-up micro scooter for our 4½ yo daughter.
Have been doing a bit of research on-line and with friends but am struggling to get any impartial advice.

If such a thing exists, what we're after is one that:

• Is suitable for a 4yo to learn on (she's very confident and capable on a 3-wheeled scooter)
• Folds
• Can take an adult's weight
• Has a sufficiently adjustable handlebar such that kids and adults can use it comfortably
• Isn't going to fall apart in 6 months
• Preferably doesn't cost much more than £50

Any advice would be appreciated, as would any questions I ought to be asking but haven't thought of

Watch out, some cheap models had a VERY dangerous handlebar arrangement that if the handles fell off it impaled the user.

Your best to get yourself along to somewhere like Toys R us and get your daughter to try some scooters.

All these scooters will have the kite mark, so be 'safe'.

Make sure you get her a helmet.

I had one when i was 11-12 and my sister was 2-3 and she got on just fine, zooming up and down the hallways in our house and outside. Use to take it everywhere as it was so light and you can slide it underneath the backseat in the car.

had mine 6-7 years now and still looks as good as new, even though i havent used in in the last 4 years. Hasn't failed once.

I've seen loads of adults around Vienna on these things on their way to work in the morning wearing their nice suits. In fact, I've seen entire families around the city on them!

+ 1 for the micro scooter! I haven't used mine in a couple of years but when your really cool you can do tricks on them!

I remember when they were all the rage! Walking round with a draw string bag with one of them in the back.. Oh those were the days!

Mine lasted a long time! Would defo recommend some knee pads / elbow / gloves until your daughter is used to it / learns how to come off it!

Not trying to put you off, but my eldest brother when he was like.. 17, used the one I had, smacked into a kerb and made two enormous craters in his knees down to the bone.

Excellent. We bought a Micro Kickboard for our 8yr old kid, three months ago. The brake pedal snapped off, and the response from the manufacturer/importer, was "that it had been used too hard"

So if you buy one, don't rely on the brakes. Perfectly suitable for a child, particularly one you don't like.

After this experience, my recommendation would be not to buy anything from Micro.

I had a Buzz Bug that my dad bought me for Xmas about 6 years ago. Worked great until earlier this year when I caned across a drain outside the Ramada on the way to work and the back wheel shanked clean off.

Naturally, with no control over the arse end of the scooter I went down like a sack of st and busted my hand up. Still haven't replaced it.

About being the first, weren't Go-ped the originals with the practice ped...???

Microscooters is owned by a friend of mine and having extensively tested all of their products whilst drunk. I can safely say that they can cope with a whole bunch of sloshed rugby players and sailors. The design and engineering on them is far, far better than on most others I've seen.

So your little one should safe!

Which country are you in, Germany? Which Kickboard did you have, Original, Compact or Mini? Which distributor did you contact?
