Choice... biting your lip or...

punching a boss (& relative) in the face repeatedly, not stopping until they come to drag you off the bloody remains.
I find it a tough choice at times, none tougher than in "appraisal" meetings, which are of course confidential, only they are typed up and discussed in the "main" office meetings with everyone else present.
Today I feel I have been particularly successful, I bit down hard and ignored the fact I was being slated in writing for doing personal things in (and I know this is a real cheek) my lunch breaks at a time when the office is so quiet I could take 2 months off and my desk would still be empty of tasks. I ignored the fact that "motivational" buzz words (you know, the ones that do nothing but demotivate you) were flying like they were on a 2 for 1 special offer. I even managed to ignore the fact that I was slated for not carrying out tasks that I put forward proposals on how to achieve but all were rejected on cost - like they have been every year for the last 7 years I've been tasked with them.
It is however getting to that point where I have to consider if my desire to stay married and enjoy time with my 5 month old outweighs the need to cause physical harm to f

There, I feel marginally better now for getting that off my chest.

Stop working for people. Especially organisations that use such horrible processes as 'Appraisals' (ie. we come up with a list of excuses to not give you a pay rise or any other benefits).
Worked for me, could never go back it it. Horrible non-natural, uninspiring, boring, unhealthy environment to work in IMO.

Sounds like you need a new job, old boy.
Look on the bright side though, you can search for jobs whilst at work - it's not like it's going to affect your next appraisel, is it.
Also, roll in late, stop shaving and generally make it known that you no longer give a s
t about your job. It's a lot easier to put up with a bad employer when you know your taking the piss out of them and there's nothing you can do about it.

Did you get "We notice you go home at 5pm so feel you are not a team player"?
I had this with my last job, worked 9 -5.30 with no lunch breaks, but they complained that I left at 5.30 every evening, stating that they expected me to stay till at least 7.30pm every evening............unpaid.I handed my notice in.

This is a personal gripe for me. I hate with an avenging passion anyone who tries on the "you arent committed or arent a team player if you dont work long hours" approach.Clear thinking, planning and time management mean you dont have to work stupid hours.

That'd be great, cheers grow a pair, realise that we can all improve, work on the positive areas of the feedback and understand that there are always two sides to every argument.

If you can just let me know exactly how to complete a marketing exercise with a budget of £0.00p that'd be great. If you can tell me how to improve on being told "we'll stick with what we know, thanks" in the first breath, then "you need to be more proactive" in the next, that'd be a bonus as well.
Alternatively you could just spend 7 years assessing a situation and be smart enough to know when there is no hope.

Had that more times than I care to remember.Smile and carry on doing it. Nothing they can do. At all. Ever. So what if you're not a team player after you're not technically supposed to be there. Are you a team player when you're there? Of course you are.
So what if some jumped up t
t can't manage his time effectively and sits there on YouTube until 7:30 at night trying to look busy.I take it you're in sales?
I thoroughly enjoyed telling the highest boss in the company, along with managers, senior manager etc to all go F*ck them selves , was very liberating and amazing to see the looks on the faces of the under qualified buzz word speaking tw*ts. Domt take crap from these jumped up little pricks, get another job then let them know what you think in front of all the other staff..always good for a giggle especially if you have some dirt to spill about them
Latimer House is the same as I'd imagine it's been the last few centuries, a s
t hole, in a s
t hole city that should have been demolished years ago. The basement office I inhabit from 9 to 5 is the icing on the cake.
Should I worry about my post then? Would anyone on PH be so low as to kick another member while they are at their lowest eb? Suppose they could. I know the bosses daughter reads PH occasionally, as long as she's not too busy running around at home after our son.
Good point about the website though, no need for it to be in the profile, If I'm going to get business comments made about what I do in my personal time I'll not use personal profiles to advertise the business website.
