So the farmers are doing the harvest.. and now I have loads of flies in the house (in half an hour I have got rid of 6)
Whats the best way to get rid of them? I can't use fly spray as I have a couple (3) cats who stay inside all day..
They are doing my f
g head in with their f
g buzzing around..

We live opposite a chicken farm - at this time of year the flypaper in the kitchen takes less than 48 hours to rack up a score of 100...

Get one of those dirt devil things or a hoover or something, its funny chasing them round as they get a certain distance away and then get sucked in....
Find a f
k off big spiders web and let them out the hoover - its bloody funny watching them fl into the spiders web & the spider eating them!

Electrocution blue light thingy like you see in the butchers?
These don't work for all breeds of fly. We used to have a similar problem because of the chicken farm not far from here, and the blue light thingy didn't work on the flies we had. I spoke to one of the online companies about it and they recommended flypaper and the aforementioned tennis racket thingy (a fiver from Maplins). n3il123 said:
Wigeon Incognito - now thats an idea... when can I get them from? and will it eat the kitten?!
Plenty of garden centres stock them, although for the really nice ones look online (easy Google). They're cheap, fun, and won't eat your kitten. When they're healthy they really attract the flies too.
Read up on how to look after them though, it isn't difficult but there are a few simple dos/don'ts e.g. don't give them tap water (use boiled and cooled, or rain water). If you don't learn the basics they'll be dead within the year, which is disappointing.
I learnt this by giving my first few rainwater with a diet of cheese and ham!!

Flypaper? Independent ironmongers, DIY shed if you have to. There is life offline, you know...Wigeon Incognito - now thats an idea... when can I get them from? and will it eat the kitten?!

Carnivorous plants? You're on your own there. I read too many of those Pan Horror Stories when I was small.
What sort of flies? Fruit flies? For some reason, this year, there are quite a few.
Here's a solution I worked out myself.
1) Take an old pot or plastic punnet.
2) Seal all small holes with tape.
3) Eat a banana or other fruit. Dump the peel or core in the pot.
4) Seal with cling film.
5) Pierce a couple of tiny holes (less than 5mm diameter) in the film.
6) Place pot near fruit or bin.
In a couple of hours, providing you get rid of the rest of the peels and fruit refuse (ie stick in main bin), the flies that are flapping about the house will locate the pot of fruit, find their way in through the holes and be unable to exit the pot afterwards. You then place the pot full of flies in a field and nuke it from space as it's the only way to be sure.
