Priests and young boys

Why is this ?

The front page of the Manchester Evening News reveals that another priest has been kiddy fiddling.

WTF is this ? So many times we hear of these 'men of the cloth' having a lucky dip in some poor lads y-fronts.

Can they not sift these molestors out before they join the church or is it some kind of religeous right in their eyes ?

Added to that, its such an embarrassment for them, you have to wonder how much of it is covered up and never reaches the public domain.

I feel sorry that Christianity is being discredited by (among other things) child molestation. As if they arent pushing st uphill as it is. Now its even less likely to be judged purely on the merits of its basic principles. Like the afterlife. The ark. And a bloke who could walk on water.

My money would be on something to do with choosing a life of celibacy. The question is, does the priesthood attract young men with dysfunctional sexual urges (perhaps as a way of dealing with something they know is wrong and socially unacceptable) or does the way of life somehow turn some normal young men into kiddie fiddlers?

Sorry mate it really doesn't seem to be anything specific to priests, more so men who work closely with young children. Which is very sad for the majority who are decent/normal.

Exactly. I think if the churches actively promoted a normal, healthy sex life in priests rather than abstinence, there may be a lot fewer cases.

I've never understood this celibacy thing anyway - surely it goes against what their god put them on earth for? If we all followed their stupidity the human race would be over in a single generation.

Which is the real shame as thanks to the Tabloid media all men who work with children are now viewed with deep suspicion.

Hell as a man you get stared at if you stand near the kiddies playground in a park. I was only trying to pull a MILF for gods sake.

In addition, the simple fact of believing in an all-powerful invisible friend shows them to be mentally defective.

I assume you feel the same way about teachers, youth workers, scout masters etc. Or is your bigotry reserved solely for religion?

Try being a male working with 6-8 year olds. Half the parents would much rather a female helped look after their kid than a male, and you have to be extra careful when doing absolutely anything now.

I have an anecdotal tale from a friend whose husband went along one day instead of her to pick up the kids....apparently terror broke out amongst both little boys and girls as "a man was in the school". There were no male staff, no male assitants.....the entire place was staffed by women. I can't see that it does the kids much good really.

Dare I saw it that I believe the kids enjoy it more when there is a "male" role-model there. A lot of kids these days seem to live with their mums, seeing their fathers relevatively infrequently. But of course, you can't play any of the games that were great fun when I was a Beaver Scout anymore because they're banned....
