Whilst it's not nice to gloat at other people's misfortune, wasn't it a TINY bit stupid to be kite surfing in a storm like that? Or is that just the benefit of hindsight?
I don't blame him to be honest; you know what all the jobsworth health and safety can be like "MAJOR STORM GONNA KILL US ALL!" <Que cat pawing and meowing on the window outside because its started spitting>Probably didn't think it was gonna be bad; but then again, to HOLD ONTO the thing AFTER smashing into the ground... What a twit.
I say again:
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

As for elf and safety Nazi's, he was warned not to go out in a tropicla storm.... not like a "stiff breeze" is it?

He'd be strapped to the kite, and althogh he'd have emeregency releases he may not have had a chance to use them, thats waht it says in the article.

Quite. When you Kitesurf you wear a harness around your hips (like a climbing harness) which clips onto your kite lines. This means that when surfing, you are taking the strain through your hips leaving your arms free to control the kite. There are emergency releases on the harness but as you can see from that vid, it happened so quickly there's no way he'd have been able to release. Really stupid to be out in those sorts of conditions. In that wind you'd need a kite half the size to do the job
This video is crazy, kite surfer gets taken for a 39 second flight by a freak thermal.

-26 stitches from center of eyebrow into scalp -Highest Rib broken -Broken Ankle -Possible Muscle Contusion in the back between Spine and Supporting Bones -Abrasions everywhere -Little Amnesia - EMT said its normal for head injuries like this.
