An American teenager has dropped out of high school in order to become an expert at the video game Guitar Hero.
Blake Peebles, 16, quit his sophomore year at North Raleigh Christian Academy to concentrate on perfecting his game, which so far has seen him win prizes from gift certificates to gaming equipment and chicken sandwiches.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native’s parents hired a tutor and allowed their son to drop out of school after he wore them down with his complaints.
"We couldn't take the complaining anymore. He always told me that he thought school was a waste of time," his mother Hunter told The News & Observer.
Peebles hopes to get to professional-level gaming, which can see competitors earn from $25,000 to $80,000 per year, although the figure is usually at the lower end and sponsorship opportunities are rare for competitors who coming in any lower than first place.

IMO the parents are 100% to blame for this kid failing life."Teenager complains - SHOCKER!"
Which section of parenting 101 allowed these douchebags to take him away from the only chance he had of gaining some sort of reasonable start in life, namely - EDUCATION.
Grow a goddam spine and send him back to school you lazy good-for-nothing hick t
ts.Also, how many chicken sandwiches does he have to win to pay for a full-time tutor rather than take advantage of the free high-school education.
s.I'm probably the only one to think this but good luck to the kid. He's found something he is really interested in and is giving up everything else to work towards making a living out of it. Think about it, I doubt we've lost a nobel prize winning chemist here. Just one less spud looking for a McJob. So
and keep hitting those orange notes dude.

I suppose it’s down to my inferior breed. God only knows how he manages to hit 5 coloured buttons while strumming a white one. He must be the only one in country with that talent.

Sigh, if only opportunities like this came alone to me, who knows where I’d be now.
It's only a guess, but here goes:It will still involve chicken sandwiches.
Every night, crying yourself to sleep in the parent's basement, dreaming of a shot at the fries window.
Then one day, the lucky break. A buddy offers you $500 to 'Just drive my van down to Mexico'
By the time you're released, you are 46 years old, and, thanks to your purdy mouth gaining you guitar hero favours, perhaps the best Guitar hero there has ever been.
Sadly, no-one remembers the game, and tramps piss on you while you try to busk, pathetically, for change to buy a Stylophone.
Sure beats school, cocktard.

t, fair enough it was to learn to play a real guitar, but a kids toy? FFS, how do you even earn money out of that?
Shoot him. And the parents. And everyone else in that goddamn town.
Ahh, there is a problem. He's in the same town as you. Sorry. BOOM HEADSHOT!

There's a demo Guitar hero game set up in my local supermarket. Had a bit of a bash and thought it was quite fun (yes I did previously own a dancemat for drunken parties!) Actually thought about buying it. Then realised I actually knew how to play most of the songs on it on a real guitar
