Not sure if a repost but now Boris is getting stick for personally taking responsibility for TFL rather than fobbing it off on someone else and paying them an inflated salary for it too.

Long live Boris and Boris for PM.

From that link:

"Tim Parker, London Mayor Boris Johnson's First Deputy, quit his post and the job of running the capital's transport network on Tuesday, the third senior aide to leave the administration in three months.

Parker, a former private equity executive, was appointed First Deputy Mayor after Johnson's election victory for the Conservatives in May and was due to take over as chairman of Transport for London (TfL) in September."

This is one of Boris's appointments resigning ffs! The 3rd of his senior appointments resigning in 3 months - His Deputy Mayor!

The wheels are coming off...

You never know if a "quit" is a "quit" or a "push". A bit of chaos is always a good sign of a proper free market settling down. Good riddance to anyone who doesn't want to deliver the best for London.

Sacking the Oyster supplier showed that Boris has proper free-market balls. It doesn't matter that Londoners bit the bullet and had to endure the teething problems of Oyster's introduction before taking it to their heart; Oyster were taking the piss with charges so they had to go. That is leadership!

No cronies. No bullst. A smiley chump in public and a hard-nosed businessman in the privacy of County Hall - if only the national Conservative Party had someone with those credentials!

Not quite. I would expect a lot more than this to be honest over the next few months/years. It's simply Boris working his way through sorting the wheat from the chaff and cutting the beurocracy and financial waste.

FWIW I think Boris is doing a great job.

If nothing else his plans to get rid of those hideous bendy-buses is worth my vote. I witnessed yet another one wedged between a kerb and a concrete bollard yesterday.

The 'chaff' you mention was appointed after BJ's election. He (Tim Parker) is worth £75 million and his salary was a nominal £1.

Fairy Muff! Ok so it may not be financial and maybe they dont quite see eye to eye or it's simply due to both of them agreeing that it would be better for Boris to be the head of LT and the one responsible and answerable for it as well rather than Tim Parker who may not wish to be made a scapegoat if anything goes wrong.
Whatever the reason I have every faith that this has been done for an intelligent and sensible reason rather than anything else.

Not sure why Boris is getting stick for this? He's shown he can be ruthless with the Oyster contract, so maybe this is just a sign that the previous Mayor had way too many staff? Seems strange to me that a democratically elected Mayor of London assuming direct responsibility for TfL is classed as a shambles? Aren't we always moaning about advisers and consultants and non-jobs? If this is a case of the excess being trimmed, regardless of how talented the guy is/was, then I'm all for it. More accountability for the directly elected Mayor can only be a good thing can't it?

Boris is getting stick over everything possible because the socialists know they are on their last legs and are grasping at straws.

rofl rofl rofl

Please explain how a Boris Johnson appointee resigning is a sign that the previous dhead had way too many staff...

rofl rofl rofl
So you are now calling Livingstone a dhead in order to shore up your supposed neutrality.

The guy left because it had gbecome clear that he had too much power for an unelected official. It's a pity that several thousand government appointeesaround the country are not doing the same thing.

A simple searchof your posts at election time would suffice. It was hardly gushing support, but you expressed a preference.

I will bet you that no scandal comes out of this resignation.

I'll make this simple for you: Show me a post where I express a preference for Kenrolleyes

Your probably right about "no scandal" coming from it though - but then it's not a 'scandalous' action is it, just resigning. It shows political differences appearing between BJ and his appointees - not the first and probably not the last.

Lets hope he doesn't set his hair alight when holding the torch on Sunday...

hehe

This is polotics. You could spin this any way you like.

The crux of it is this - Somebody has openly taken responsibility for TFL. To me that shows some balls. If/When TfL does not improve then there will be enough ammunition to out BJ at the next election.

Very rare these days to here people say 'I messed up. Its my fault'. Especially in polotics
