Im just watching Eurosport and its the womans olympic diving. Iv noticed there are two jets of water being fired into the dive pool.

The only reason i can think for it, is to break the surface tension of the water?

Am i being dumb or is that the reason?

It's so the divers can spot the surface level for their "rip entry".

Doing some calcs, I think they hit the water at about 22mph from the 10m board so perhaps surface tension too.

Won't affect the surface tension, but does break up the surface to make it less like concrete when the diver hits it. If you bubbled up air from a pipe it would be even more effective but the diver might hit the bottom as the water resistance is reduced.

We didn't have jets in my old diving pit so you had to wait for someone else to make a splash so you could judge it from the top board.

I make it closer to 33. Although I factored in that they jump up from the board, and its at around 11m the stop and begin to fall nerd

Slow start to the morning...
