If the cop had half a brain he would have taken the dog in the cop car and taken it to the vets.

Very sad frown

Its a dog, not a child. Not even a proper dog, one of them snivvvling little 'stzu' typpe things... we used to have one. Usless pampered wimpering little st it was....

Seriously, driving like a loon on the phone because a dog is choking isnt really the right thing to do. If the guy had caused a major/fatal accident it wouldnt have looked like much of a defence in court, would it...?

Cop should have put the dog out of its misery. Would have been the only desent thing to do in the circumstances... wink And then capped the driver too.

At least it's good to see that it's not only in the UK that the use of common sense seems to have disappeared from public life! rolleyes

Officer in that case was a power tripping, uncompassionate tw@t. Hope he loses his job; people don't need police like that supposedly serving the public.

To be fair though, the driver didn't look like he was in any state to be concentrating on driving at nearly double the speed limit, so I can see why the cop wouldn't want to let him go on his way.

God forbid the cop take the dog and owners in the back of his own car the few miles to the vet, as opposed to writing out a speeding ticket for 20 minutes.

Well yes, I didn't say he shouldn't have done that - the cop comes across as a total censored and I'd hope that most reasonable cops would have helped the poor couple and dog out.

Shut up already....show some compassion here, if it were my dog I'd have done the same thing.

I'd too like to think that 95% of cops would have been reasonable under the circumstances and helped those poor folks out. Unluckily for them, they got one of self-serving, power abusing idiots. That's why I think the guy deserves to lose his job; he spectacularly failed to protect and serve. In fact, he activity hindered!

I've never had a dog, but still, I wouldn't have stopped.

Police man was a tool.
