Ive been registered with ebay for yonks and yonks and have 170+ pos feedback and like to see whats available to buy, get an idea of values and sell all sorts of stuff to fund my addiction for things automotive. trouble is I am starting to think that its not worth the hassle as paypal is a pain in the arse. They put different types of limits on your account, can take money back out of your bank account if a buyer says what he has bought is not up to scratch even if it is, and the latest is that they have decided to stop using my bank account for funding and have started putting it on my credit card instead.

And to make matters worse, Ebay is full of idiots who are willing to pay stupid money for second-hand stuff they could get brand new if only they spent a few mins googling!

Impossible to get a bargain these days as too may people seem to get carried away bidding - like it's more about winning the item than paying a reasonable price for something you need. irked

try amazon instead, seems to work a bit better than ebay, but I've only just started using it and not to sell anything yet.

Not quite the choice of stuff though. Easier to wade through the listing than ebay.

I don't use eBay that often but will not use Paypal when selling.

I registered with an old email address years ago and they won't let me access my account now despite repeated attempts. I gave up in the end and just say cash / cheque only.

1) Paypal is a pain in the arse, demanding your credit card details over a certain turnover.

2) eBay selling fees have shot up (don't be fooled by 'free listing' days)

3) Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback - hence they are at the mercy of unscrupulous buyers. If you dare file a dispute, eg for non-payment, they will cry 'rip-off merchant' or 'goods were rubbish' in a dishonest attempt to get the goods AND their money back. I had a FB of 280 and 100%, then got hit by two wrs in two weeks.

Bye bye eBay.

I think you have to offer paypal now, otherwise you can't list.

try www.ebid.net it's like ebay was before they got greedy and fked it up for sellers.

You cannot list an item without accepting Paypal. They say it's for 'protection'. bks, it's for extra profit.

As I refuse to deal with Paypal, who I can only describe as utter s, the whole thing is destroyed.

I gave up flogging anything on ebay, too much hassle. Just sell stuff on the free for sale listing at work. Free, no delivery charges and cashsmile

Despite the problems, including the very annoying fact that buyers can dick you around and you can't leave negative feedback, it is still worth it as there are so many people out there willing to pay loads for 2nd hand items.

Bye bye eBay.
Glad other people are thinking the same as us, my wife has been messed about with two buyers and both have got off 'scott free'.
There's a new Ebay CEO who started about 4 months ago, he's done many of these changes including increasing profit.

Good to see there's a rival, just thinking it's ripe for competition.

yes I've just bought a drawing board that would be £450+ new, should be realistically at least £150 second hand, for £1.

I felt sufficiently guilty that I e-mailed the seller offering to let him re-list it without negative feedback, if he was disappointed, but he says he's just happy to see it shifted...

Aha, that would explain it! Obviously he's so damn rich he doesn't bother selling stuff on his own site...

eBid is much fairer and cheaper, but has but a tiny fraction of the users. So if you're a seller you'll either get fewer bids (= lower price) and if you're buying, there's much less choice. But as eBay have doing business with them intolerable, eBid is where I'll go in future.

I think it all went downhill when they merged with Paypal. Paypal is god awful. The one company that really makes my blood boil.
