Financial advice, company taking gf's money without consent.
Discussion
My Gf checked one of her current accounts last night and discovered that a credit check company had relieved her of £6.99 a few days ago without her knowledge/consent/even having used that website!
Unfortunately she was also close to her o/d limit and it has tipped her over the edge meaning that the bank have also charged her £25 for the privilege.
What can she do? I've told her to phone the bank and explain/ask what has happened, to try and get the money back, but what can she do about the company who charged her the money? She hasn't ever had any dealings with them, so how can she stop it happening again?
Confused of Tunbridge Wells.

Same thing just happened to my OH.
They took about £15 out of her account which tipped her over the limit and Barclays charged £30 for the privilege. A few phone calls to the company have resulted in the £15 being returned eventually but they've not coughed the £30 yet. We had to provide copies of the letter from Barclays about the £30 fee and also the bank statement showing that their £15 withdrawl caused it etc.

Ummmmm tell the bank you do not recognise the transaction, have not authorised it etc etc.
They will investigate, speask to the vendor etc
The bank has allowed the transaction on your account and assuming all is kosher on your part you have no issue.
The vendor will not pay you the bank charge. The bank will pay this back when prompted and if all is kosher on your part.

That's the confusing bit, and slightly unnerving bit as well. She swears blind that she has never given them her bank details, or even herard of them, plus there is no email receipt or any correspondance from the company in question.
If your 100% absilutly convinced that she is correct id call the policeNic Jones said:

Wild guess - has she applied for credit somewhere, and signed a form (or agreed something online) without reading all the T's & C's (who does?)? Deva Link said:

Hopefully learning to read, or learning common sense is top priority!
To get her details, she must have given them when she signed up; why does she need to give her details for a trial? Because they automatically start billing you when the trial runs out!
You said she "swears blank she's never heard of them" yet signed up for a trial?
