Should I be concerned??...

Would this concern you? I have mixed opinions..
On arriving home from a relaxing break in Cornwall I was faced with a letter from "Senior Manager for Residential Children's Services". It basically states that Cheshire County Council is planning to open two new small children's homes in Crewe. The proposed new homes are part of a programe to modernise Cheshire's residential care for its looked after children. Each house will offer four single bedrooms for young people and will be staffed 24 hours a day. They will operate as family style houses and will not be secure units or young offender institutions, but will provide a home to four Cheshire young people who are unable to live with their own families. There will be no external indication that the houses are children's homes. The children that are being housed in these homes are from Redsands Residential Home. This was a national resource accommodating challenging young people from across the UK. This facility is being closed and as a result youngsters are being housed in the local community - very close to where I live and quite possibly a house in my street.
Should I be concerned? Has anyone else had experience of this sort of thing?

Only what happended in my home town where something very similar was done. It resulted in an almost immediate miniature crimewave and the little scrotes challenging youths went on the rampage and infected alot of previously nice kids.
I hope the same doesn't happen with you. Though I guess they have to go somewhere.

Crewe? It's the kids I feel sorry for.
There is more to Crewe than just the town centre and streets in the immediate vicinity. Unfortunately because of the "chav culture" in the town centre the whole of the Borough is tarred with the same brush. lottie said:

Unfortunately because of the "chav culture" in the town centre the whole of the Borough is tarred with the same brush. Thre's a home like this at the top of my road. From my experience, it's no different than any other house with a few teenagers in - the occasional group of kids hanging out outside, some bad dance music playing until 11PM on a Friday, nothing to complain about. There are people looking after them at the home, so nothing ever seems to get out of hand and I really can't complain - I'm even happy parking my car on street right outside the place!
I wouldn't be concerned there is a very good chance the kids in these places could be just as normal as any others. Children in residential care tend to be those that have problems that are not of their own causing and crave security and stabilty.
Living in the community probably gives them this. These places are well staffed and well resourced and if the area is a nice one the incentive for the children to behave will be great as they will not want to be moved on quickly.
