Bloody hell, we haven't had any for a while then suddenly the third time in a week or so. This time offering an "exterior wall inspection". Yeah, it's got some bricks, and oh look some cement in between. Great.

They interrupt my privacy and get all pissy when I tell them to bugger off mad

Chavvy tt will probably come and slash my tyres now.

Anyone got any amusing stories to share?

Yes....during my door to door salesman days......I noticed a big crack in the side of a guys house and I thought hey I better tell him about this and it's his lucky day as I'm a fully trained architect, but unfortunately as I was on my way back from the gym he obviously thought I was a chav and told me to fk off....so I really hope his house is now in several bits biggrin

My mate has just started working as a TV license enforcement officer. I was looking at the training pack and I think they are just glorified door 2 door salesmen.

I've always thought it's like a trial by ordeal for the Jehovas Witnesses - and Mormons too. They don't really expect to ever convert anyone, it's a sort of test your faith thing.

Strangely the only door to door salesman I get is a chap trying to sell me onions. Cycled all the way from France too judging by his accent... Bless him!

As i WFH alot i seem to get more than my fair share :

Double Glazing "have you seen our irritating advert Sir ? You buy one, you get one free" (this advert is a good reason in itself not to buy)

Fish ? £40 worth of frozen fish, yes i am partial to the odd bit but £40's worth ? Where will i put it? Would end up in the cats bowl.

Car servicing "We'll service your car for free if you write us a cheque now for £89" ....

I'm far too nice to the Hovis Biscuits as some of my family are in the squad.

Years ago I somehow was left at a friends house babysitting.

I think I was in the garden enjoying a few beverages when I hear the doorbell. By the time I get up and make it to the door I find 2 Jehovas Witnesses and the 12 year old kid having a merry old chit chat.

I couldn't believe it

JWs believe that only 144000 make it to heaven. They believe that they build the ladder that they want to be on top of, by recruiting the lower rungs door-to-door. I find it despicable personally, but then I'm not keen on any form of god-botherer.

We don't seem to get many here on the IOW, probably can't afford the ferries.

I've only ever had one and he was a mormon. I gave him the time of day because he'd walked all the way along the lane which has hardly any houses on, climbed over the locked 5-bar gate (!), made it alive past the geese and I found him pinned in a corner by my growling 40kg labrador that eats badgers for breakfast. I had to admit he deserved his chance to convert me after being that determined.

He told me about his god-bothering nonsense and i told him the history of the island - last place in Britain to be 'converted' to christianity from paganism, only 1300 years ago by the newly converted king of wessex sending his army over and ethnically cleansing every man, woman and child on the island in the name of his god. When the last islander was killed, the island became christian.

He was actually a decent chap and we called it quits!

hehe

You just needed to train the labrador a bit better...
