Just beware this time of year its busy. Went monday this week to AT and queues were at least an hour for most rides. Ended up forking out an additional £12 each for the express tickets that let you jump the queues.
Well yeah we did think that, but will all kids off school its guna be the same all the time.My brother went last bank holiday to AT and we ripped him saying he wernt guna get on any rides, but he said it was only about 15mins que each ride!
Although, if anybody has a link to a website with discount vouchers to any i will be more than happy!

This year I did Alton Towers, Drayton Manor and Pleasure Beach in the space of a week.
I will never go to Alton Towers again- it's just too busy for it's own good.
Drayton Manor was great.
Pleasure Beach was awesome as always. It's actually very hard to beat- there's a ton of history there and the way the place is built all the rides intertwine so you don't have to walk far to get anywhere.
Aim to be there when the park opens and go on the major rides as soon as they open. You'll find that, by the time the place is packed (usually just after lunch) you'll have done most of the major stuff and can move on to other rides without the ridiculous queues.

Go to Thorpe Park, I used to work there for 3 years and probably went around 4 times a year as a guest during that time.
I've to Alton Towers twice, in the last 6 years and would much rather still go back to Thorpe Park.
Alton Towers car park is miles away from the park and the queues at the ticket office were pretty bad. Also the park is very spread out and so it takes a while to get from place to place.
Thorpe Park has all the attractions close together, the car park is right outside the entrance and the ticket office is usually quite quick. Arguably they also have the better rides now as well in Stealth and Collusus.
If you haven't been then I would deffo try it out. Also, my gf went with her family yesterday and she commented that it was very quiet compared to previous years. She said they didn't queue much longer then 20 mins for any ride, bearing in mind that when I worked there, the rollercoasters were easily an hours wait then this is pretty good.
I believe Capri Sun multipacks have a bogof voucher for Tussauds/Merlin attractions.

Alton Towers is a sad shaddow of its former self, litter, paint flaking off rides, dirty and flithy and seems like its no longer looked after as it once was. Chavs touting tickets outside ticket offices - it used to be a fantastic place, still good but could do much better.
Thorpe park is nothing more than an amusement park and for that it wins

living sout of london i would choose TP any time over AT because the extra travel isn't worth it. TP has a great selection of rides, AT is a bit bigger but it is debateable whether it has more better rides
as has been said, AT is probably a better them park but its also bigger and mroe spread out whereas TP is more compact and more about the rides without themes - plus you are 20 - too old for themes anyway

get the fast pass tickets, £50 a head, but well worth it to skip the queues!
I did it last week with the family, cost a bloody fortune but a 100% enjoyable day even though the park was packed.
Straight to the front of the queue on all the big rides, 5 mins waiting tops. turned a day of queueing into a leisurely day of wandering around, picking rides at random and going on them as many times as we wanted. a once a year treat.
