4th in overall medal count is good as is; however, consider your much smaller population than the three nations above you, and that is even more significant. clap

I forget the exact number but China & USA had over 600 athletes competing and GB had just over 300, not sure about the Russians. Makes the result more impressive.

Been listening to a lot of the BBC coverage then, or just aping what you've heard about it in this paragon of unbiased opinion, the P+P?

Because all the coverage I've heard (most of it on 5 Live) has been enthusiastic in support of all the British competitors.

Nope, I was alluding to the folks here talking about the reporter seeming ebarrassed at his own nation's success. What are you, a BBC employee? I started this thread as a tribute to the U.K.'s success; get over yourself.

I understand that the closing ceremony will consist of Beckum being handed a soccer ball, and something to do with a double decker bus and Jimmy Page. All of this to symbolize the Olympics going to London. This could be interesting.
ETA: I suppose I missed this due to time difference. Did it happen already? If so, how was it?

I wondered why we had a very good Olympics and was told it was all due to the extra lottery 'good causes' money, funding equipment and training sports coaches.
