I just caught some of Boris's olympic speech.

What a brilliantly, funny, down to earth, eccentric patriotic bloke. He's just what this country needs and a breath of fresh air from the likes of "dull, red Ken".

You couldn't help but smile at him.

Keep it up Boris!

I like Boris. In this age of speech-makers, you can be pretty damn sure that his words were his own. Red Ken may have lumbered us with the olympics, but Boris seems to be showing no signs of letting this get to him. I think he'll give it his best shot.

I like Boris one hell of a lot. He's incredibly smart but incredibly poor at expressing himself verbally.

This is true. I saw the 'Who do you think you are' program, and didn't get much out of it for his ramblings....having said that he is the best thing to happen to London in quite some time, so all credit to him.

yes

But I like the fact he makes gaffs, shows he is more human than the likes of red ken.

I just enjoyed myself imagining how Livingstone felt watching the whole thing:

"It should have been me .... waaaaa!"

He was never that keen on them anyway...he was just looking for a cheap way to re-generate the Stratford area - admitted to it in his speech when he was up against Boris and Paddick (other contenders for the Mayoral ticket - for those outside of London). He'll be laughing now.

It is so nice to have 'an official' on TV who makes you laugh!

Better than the crap D Beckham is rambling on about on BBC.

"Well you know like, I said, well, you see like , well you know at the end of the day, like I said, you know what I mean"

Ah, it's all clear now David.

What a refreshing change from the normal stultifying nonsense we hear from other British politicians. I have a alot of time for Boris, and hopefully that speech got him out there to the rest of the British population who aren't too aware of him.

Could you imagine Brown doing that? Ha!
