I've just got back of hols and need to book another one quick to help drag me out of the PHB's (Post Holiday Blues) that I am suffering from.

Mrstch78 is a teacher so we're tied into school hols, and the next one is the October half term.

I've never been on hols at this time of year so I'm not sure where to start looking - will the southern med still be hot or do we have to look further?

Anyone with any experience/ideas I'd really appreciate your comments.

Thanks

See what deals you can get to Thailand/Malaysia maybe - the weather's pretty decent, and it should be a chav free zone - what sort of holiday do you want - beach or sightseeing?

Alternatively Arizona/Nevada will be mainly hot if you avoid the higher bits (ie like the Grand Canyon).

Hi, I'm in same position as your OH (primary teacher) and have been to Malta several times in October half term. It's lovely if you don't want a beach holiday as they don't really have any-two I think. Also you'll be amazed at the number of old cars and supercars floating round the island-especially Sunday morning!

We did Cancun one year and it was still hot at that time of year.

Our dilemma also.

Unfortunately we'll probably be looking at £250 a head so that seems to be Spain, Malta and bits of Portugal at the moment.

Nice weather and no chavs? Just go wherever the opposite of Morecambe is.

October is one of the worst months for the monsoons in Thailand, many places get flooded. As for chavs, you should be OK as long as you avoid Pattaya. It's pretty chav free out there but you do get a lot of the football shirt wearing, shaven headed, roid-freak crowd there these days, but as long as you stick to nice places you will not be bothered at all.

You had me worried as Lady P and I are considering going to Malta in a month or two and she likes to do the sun worship thing.

Beaches in Malta:
Anchor Bay
Ghajn Tuffieha
Golden Bay
Gnejna
Ghadira, Mellieha
Paradise Bay
Armier
St Paul's Bay
Mistra Bay
Hola Beach
Peter's Pool
Pretty Bay
Marsascala

Best place is Cyprus. October has the best weather, earlier its too hot). Of course there are chav places, so avoid Aiya Nappa etc.
I have a place in Paphos and it very peaceful all year. Temps in Oct will be 75-80 day and comfortable at night (maybe sleeves but not usually).

I'm looking at places to go with the GF at the end of Sept/ early October and I also want somewhere hot.

So far I've narrowed it down to Egypt, Southern Italy, Cyprus or somewhere in Greece.
