hi,

i have applied for a german business visa. the problem here is the lamination cover on the first page of my
passport has peeled off and the immigration service group from my company has stapled the cover to the passport
and i am kind of anxious that the consulate guys might reject the application thinking that its
a dummy passport. since this is the first time i am applying for a visa, i do not know many things
about the process.however, i already have a UK business visa stamped. will this effect my application???
any information on this querry would be greatly appreciated.

rsv gone!

Unless you want to be stranded somewhere, get another passport as soon as possible.

It'll cost £100ish , but you can get a new one same day if you get an appointment at your nearest passport office.

As long as they are not on strike, of course.

Going by his name and the UK business visa bit I think he is talking about an Indian passport, not a UK one.

From the gentleman's login name and the fact that he has a UK business visa, I suspect this isn't terribly relevant wink

Just an idea, but how about going to the relevant consulate and asking them?

General rule with passports - if you think it might look fishy then officials will DEFINITELY think it looks fishy - get a new one ASAP

Ahem, trying to be helpful here - if you do a lot of business travel, wouldn't a new passport be a cost that your employer could legitimately meet? After all they should meet your medical, travel and subsistence costs while you are travelling, so why not a replacement passport?

My passport has been through the wash a few years ago. all the pages are 'wavey' and looks quite home made. Last few times coming back into the country I have been stopped and questioned about it. last time was advised to get a new passport asap.

My company asked me to go to Iran where you need at least 6 months left on your passport to get a visa, I only had 5 months left on mine, they would not pay for a new one, they have however paid for this many times over since! Its in my contract that I must have a passport, it doesnt say how long it must have left on it though, I may have got it paid for if I really pushed it but it wasnt worth it. Then the trip was canceled, which I was not too bothered about.
