OK, just on the off-chance... I've never even been to Amsterdam on a drunken, drug-fuelled, sexually-charged weekend of unadulterated s
ggery so I know next to nothing about it. Well, my parents did once visit and tell me the parks were nice and they saw tulips but I really couldn't care less about that.
What I'd like to know is what the place is like to live in, especially compared to "That London", which is where I live now.
PS The only Dutch I know is "s
groom" - the hilarious translation of "whipped cream". Don't ask how I know.
GRRRR it's a foreign word - don't censor me! Erm... errrr... Ok, the three missing letters is something you do to pipes to stop them freezing up.

Live in Rotterdam many years ago in a houseshare. Wasnt really there for the culture, more work related but it's roughly similar to the UK climate wise. Whenever we went to Amsterdam, it was full of Brits on stag weekends or trying to take pics in the red light district.
Unless you have to live in Amsterdam itself, consider somewhere like Den Haag which is much nicer day to day, and not too far to Amsterdam if you want to go there. Easy enough for the airport
Nothing really to watch out for, smoking ban is in there as well now, you presumably arent too interested in the Banana Bar, and I dont smoke weed so I cant tell you what thats like. I'd presume it's strong though judging from the wonkiness I see whenever I go bacl

I almost went to work for a large mining/energy firm based in the Hague 2-3 years back and was over there for a week, full tour of the place looking at flats etc.
The Dam is about 35 min away from the Hag so I was going to live there. It's fine really away from the torusity bit and red light area ( if a bit dull ).
Cheaper than London, and there are some nice tax breaks
Also it's a good place to see the rest of Europe from.
Having said that I decided that it wasn't for me, because despite it's fearsome reputation I wouldn't really rank it anywhere near London for the night life.
