This is mainly aimed at those in large organisatiosn that often need peopel to take on extra tasks (probably free) to help keep the place running.

Some suggestions below - does anyone do any extras to lick arse/job satisfaction?

Health and Safety Rep (boo I hear) - Equality and Diversity Rep? (bigger boos) - Union Rep (I'm getting the hell out of here)

Oops. Sorry. Did you agree because you wanted to wear the hi-viz, or to brown nose?

I kind of got forced into it TBH, it is hard to say no when it is something like that.

A few years ago i washed cars at Polar Ford, outside they had a 20ft high inflatable Polar Bear as they would. A secondary part of my role was, and i quote - to "batten down the bear in stormy weather". Was quite cool hehe

i volunteered to be a graduate forum rep a couple of years ago.

i can safely say my contributions were pretty much nothing.

was a construction ambassador at one point too (whatever one of those is). did one presentation but managed to kop off with one of the birds running the course so it wasnt all a total waste...

I'm the youngest in my office by a good 10 years, and there are a fair few wricklys approaching death retirement. The offer to be the office first aider didn't appeal.

I help to mentor and coach younger members of staff with large doses of reality.

Thankless job, "L'Oreal" springs to mind.

I ended up H&S rep, as it was the only way to stop the management imposing stupid solutions to non existent problems on my staff. Being the rep allows me to say no no to stuff like wearing welding gloves when soldering surface mount components. I was told (by HR)I would have to implement this, I soon told them to go back to their desks and get on with some stuff they understood. So it works OK for me.
