An unusually whiny and sensitive post from me.

I split up with a girl (her choice not mine) Jan 05, right until the point she cheated and left me for another bloke it was a good relationship, we got on well, she was stunning and we had a lot in common. I don't blame her for leaving me, my job was getting in the way and frankly with the tables turned I'm sure I'd have done the same.

After we split up I tried several times to get her back and failed.

Since then I did the usual blokes way of getting over it, and went through a variety of women, nice cars and bottles of drink.

The trouble is I always get bored very quickly, they take the edge off but then I remember actually I'm an idiot and probably lost the one person out there I could imagine spending the rest of my life with.

In Nov 05 I settled down again in to a relationship with a smashing girl, she does anything for me and is without doubt the nicest person I've ever met, my family love her as do my friends (the ex was also liked), we have plenty in common and get on well.

But there isn't a spark. It feels like were best friends not BF/GF.

And I just can't get the ex out of my head, the thing is I know even though I keep in contact with her mum who likes me, that there is no way we will get back together, to be honest I doubt I would take her back anyway. But I still can't forget. It's been nearly 4 years now. I will state I'm not one of these blokes who is all clingy and a pain in the arse, she's the only girl I really cared about, and I'm certainly not going to try to get her back (stalk her) as it's over.

Advice?

One thing stands out here to me.

Why the hell would you even consider having her back? She cheated on you mate, and in my eyes was lucky not to get her legs broken. You're better of without her.

Why the hell didnt you read what he wrote?

It says at the bottom that he is not thinking of trying to get back with her.

Why the hell didnt you?

he says "I doubt I would take her back". That indicates that he is not sure. And judging by the rest of the post, I reckon he would take her back in a heartbeat if she would have him.

Steal her boyfriend, that'll teach her!

Have you seen her recently? I'd be surprised if she still looks like the babe you remember...

Given the way she treated you she wasn't The One, despite what you say mate.

Tricky one this....

Does your current partner know all about your ex?

If so, does she know of your current feelings? I'm guessing not.

If there is "no chance" of you and your ex ever getting back together, then you do need to move on and try and put it all behind you - else you will end up lonely and bitter.

Time IS a great healer, and it takes different people different lengths of time to move on.

If your relationship with the new girl isn't what you want, then you need to talk to her about it, as that could end up in pain and hurt - the longer it goes on without her knowing your true feelings (if that is the case) then the harder the fall at the end will be.

Slightly cheeky, but this song *may* help!

Get other stuff happening in your life, this is your only crack at it. You'll be 80 years of age on your death bed wondering why the fk you couldn't stop thinking about some bint who had no respect for you. i.e. get some perspective mate!

Go out with the friends, live it up, or simply fill your life with hobbies and assorted bks. She'll soon be forgotten if you find a new bird 'with spunk' (who swallows).

Finish with new girl.

Get back on with your life and someone will turn up, they always do unless you are a pit dwelling bog monster with zero personal charm, hygiene and social skill.

oh....

you're fecked hehe

Best way to get over a girl is to get under another one.

Which you have done, so I guess you're on your way.

Chin up, these are the good times. You'll settle for the one you're with, coz the family thinks she's great, and then, after 15 years of a loveless marriage and sterlie, once a month missionary sex, she'll leave you for Trevor from accounts, you'll lose the house and cars in the divorce and find yourself in a poxy bedsit, crying while you wank and worrying about the phonebill for the chatlines.

Like I say, you've got it good at the moment.

Not the greatest advice, but you need to bury yourself in something that will take your mind off her/it.

Me? I'd bury myself in my work as it would be a welcome distraction and a good way of diverting energies that would be otherwise wasted.

There sir is your problem, you need a mindset change my friend - you should blame her for leaving you, she was sleeping with another guy behind your back, would you do the same?

Until you stop feeling sorry for someone that lied/cheated/broke your heart and your trust, which is about the WORST thing you can do to someone, you're not going to move on.

She banged another bloke and you're excusing it?

pffffffff

You deserve better and clearly have better man, MOVE ON

Sit down (without a bottle) and work out what you are REALLY looking for in life. Then think where your current relationship is falling short of this .....then......(and this is the difficult part!) talk to your current GF about this and try to start off that "spark".
Only you can decide if this relationship is what you want, if it isn't time will only make it worse for you and your GF.
From experience, trying to go back to an ex will NOT work, especially if she had cheated on you, however, sometimes it takes a "brief encounter" with the ex to convince yourself of that!
Get over her and move on, it's the only way to go.

Now can someone help me get over the love of my life? It's starting to hurt!
