Rubbish pictures of a tornado forming!
Discussion
We were in Florida over the past couple of weeks or so, and while driving back from Cape Kennedy (during tropical storm Fay) I happened upon some very extreme weather – and I really like extreme weather!!!
I looked ahead of me and saw a cloud formation circling really quickly, like nothing I’d ever seen before. I grabbed my phone and took a few snaps. Obviously you can’t see the rotation on the photo!

Within seconds it had started to form:

And then all hell broke loose in the form of very high winds and immense rainfall – I since heard the area had got 18 inches of rainfall in one day. As such, I couldn’t take any more shots but simply stopped the car in the road (because it was impossible to see out the windscreen) and hoped that no one would go into the back of me – which they didn’t thankfully!
When I got back to the hotel the local news were saying there had been many incidences of tornadoes in the area where I was driving. Obviously we’re not talking stupidly powerful ones, but it was enough to take my breath away!

A few years ago we sat through Hurricane Wilma, which took some of the roof of the hotel, most people looked pretty damn scared, but I thought it was great! However, I'd say that Fay, though just a tropical storm, was more intense because of the sheer volume of rain it dropped - like nothing I'd ever seen before. On one particular day we had nearly a foot of rain - and when you consider it rained hard for about three hours out of twenty four, that's really going for it!
