Ok, time to tap the PHers knowledge of some basic DIY

I want to hang a mirror - cant see one like it, but this is similar...i guess:
http://www.urlrunt.info/QMCC

Anyway, I would like to put the mirror on the wall without using their mounting kit as that has to have some not so attractive plastic hanging over the edge.

Does anyone have any good ideas as how it could be hung with nothing showing on the mirror??

I was thinking something like double sided sticky pads, but I think this will probably not be strong enough??

Surely someone will have solved this problem...???

Cheers

I have done this recently with a large mirror. I used the double sided sticky pads to hold the mirror up until the "No More Nails" dried. Seems fine.

I've used this before - it's pretty strong and should be better than sticky pads. You'll need to find a way of supporting it until it dries though.

We used something called mirror-fix to stick a 7' by 4' mirror in the bathroom, apparantly any silicon should do the job as long as the mirror has a backing.

Look for a double sided tape or adhesive that is supposed to be used in a wet atmosphere, so perhaps call in at a auto shop or a car body repair workshop, after all you don’t see car bumpers, door panels and trims falling off cars in wet weather, now do you?

Any NON SOLVANT based very high bond (VHB) adhesive should be fine, grip fill, no nails, sticks like sh*t etc etc all do non solvant based versions. If you use a solvant based version you run the risk (over a period of years) of it damaging areas of the mirrored backing and the mirror going patchy.

hi guys
Thanks for your replies so far.

What I really need though is a way of hanging it semi-permantly, I.e. Moving it to another room at a later date and thought maybe something like hanging a picture so with a nail or two and some wire etc, but how you get that onto the back of the mirror I don't know??

Oh, maybe I misled, but it isn't for a bathroom

Cheers, once again
