Hi

I'm pretty sure I found one these a couple of weeks back on the web somewhere, but now can't find one anywhere! Basically, I have aux-in on my head unit for the Ipod, works great. I saw a car-mount specific for my car (Alfa 147), that sat just to the side of the gearstick, and used the bottom dock port of the Ipod. It had a fly-lead coming off it that had a 3.5mm audio cable to plug into an Aux-in, and also a cigarette lighter adaptor to provide power to charge the Ipod. My idea being to strip this off and hard-wire it!

But I can't find the damn things anywhere!

Does anyone else use something similar and can provide info on where to get one?

Cheers

Can't help with that, but the following info might be useful:
The cigarette lighter adapter will probably have a small voltage "transformer" in it to drop the voltage to something like 3.5 volts for your iPod to use safely. Cutting it off and hardwiring it in will obviously not be in the best interests of your iPod.

Interestingly, if you hard-wire my dad's sat-nav into a 306, it blows up the unit. If you then, instead of taking his buggered unit and trying it in my car with the same setup take MY sat nav and plug it into said hard-wired connection, it blows that up too.

Got one without the power from ebay. to Be honest have looked for one but could not find it. Will watch for other responses.

Other places to look would be Deal Extreme as they have loads of stuff.

I think there are threads on www.Alfaowner.com about this.

Yeah, I'd take the transformer out of the plug bit too if I could. If not, I have an adjustable regulator somewhere that I could use. thumbup

Hmm, that would probably do the job but is overkill, and I don't want to spend another £80.
