Errr, has someone annoyed you with Americanisms this morning?

When I lived the other side of the pond I used to say 'maths' and they would say it's 'math'. I would then say OK, is it 'Mathematic' or 'Mathematics'? They would say it was mathematics and I would ask why is math singular and mathematics plural then? How we laughed! Not! Sorry, that's an americanism as well isn't it?
