I never ring the fire brigade, nor has any of my family. I'm going to deduct an amount from my bill for that. Also, i don't like speed bumps, so i'll deduct some for that. And I don't always fill my bin completely, so i'll deduct for that...

I must admit I would be annoyed at having to pay it if I lived in London! However his argument that everyone should pay would piss me off even more!! I am 200 odd miles away with no intention of going to the games due to the cost and distance of getting there, and will not benefit in any way shape of form from the redevelopment so there is no fkin way I am paying!!

I think they're out of order. If everybody stop paying tax because of things they didn't agree with, the country would be fked.

Could I stop paying for the Royal family, or Gordon Brown's security guards?

Good for them. Instead of spending the money on the Olympics why not reduce Council Tax instead?

The Olympics, unlike the Fire Brigade etc, are an optional item that we, the public, are being forced to pay for despite being given no option to vote against it. I've never wanted it and still don't. I'm going to end up paying towards it and I won't even get a free ticket to say thanks. I say good on them.

Didn't you all think it was funny that in the run-up to us "winning" the bid that there was a well publicised way to show your support, but no way to show the opposite, publicised or otherwise?

Because they're the ones going to end up with the stadiums afterwards?

(Worth pointing out I think it's crap that they'd tax people to pay for something you just know someone's going to make a fortune out of).

This is a very good question as some of the venues are being designed and built in such a way that they can be moved to other cities after the games. Cities that did not pay this additional tax. That's theft!

I don't suppose any Londoners will benefit in any way from, erm, all the money put into urban regeneration, income from tourism, increase in property values, renting out their attic room to visiting sports fans...

But Glaswegians should pay too?

But from a "value for money for the taxpayer" perspective, the whole thing is theft!!!

To provide a source for my post above: http://www.london2012.com/news/media-releases/bid-...

4 of the venues will not end up in London. Not to mention things like the sailing which won't be in London to start with. Yet we will pay for enhancements to those venues, not the locals.

Another vote for that one, particularly the latter.

No offense intended, Ma'am, but I presume you'll be ok.

If they own properties, or have business interests, in London?

Last time I checked there was no need to build anything extra for the sailing.....

Portland harbour - built years ago
English Channle - been there for a fook of a long time...

Well the London 2012 site says otherwise: http://www.london2012.com/venues/weymouth-and-port...
