I currently work for an agency but I am hopefully getting made permanent in the next few weeks..

I have yet you see the job spec/pay grade. But I will be doing the admin for a customer services team and for 4 other people.

Should I expect a decent pay rise? I'm on £9 per hour currently and know the agency get a significant amount on top of my wage.

anyone made the move from agency to perm? And did your wages increase much or at all?

thanks in advance.

Quite often they go down. You need to find out what the salary would be first. But you might also find if you turn down going permanent youll be out the door too.

really? The amount of my work and other peoples work I end up doing is hardly even worth bothering with on the wage I get paid now ffs!

Hi Techno

I have done temporary contracts doing IT for a long time and in nearly every case end up getting offered a perm position.

More than likely they will offer you a little bit more but not enough to make it worth it in my opinion.

They will happily pay the agency another 9 pounds for having you on a temporary basis but once they take you on they wont pass on any of the savings and you end up doing more hours!:P

btw it costs about 1.5 of the base salary to take you on perm so consider that when you are offered. Make sure you get salary before accepting though!

It depends what you do. I'm an IT contractor, and obviously we earn a lot more than permanent staff, which is why we do it. However, when I was a student between 1996 and 1999 working in the holidays I considered £6.50 an hour as a good wage for office admin work, which is about what I'd have got as a permie at the time I think doing the same job.

Agency cuts vary. I've known everything from 12% to 100% of hourly rate. In my experience that doesn't normally reflect on staff pay, just what the company pay for you.
