So after just a few months in office we're off on the raising revenue merry-go-round yet again!

It is, of course, all the previous administrations fault...

Now call me a cynic, but haven't I heard that before?

And I was told he was going to bring down the cost of living for Londoners

If a company has been run to near bankruptcy by the prior management the new owners have little choice but to balance the books somehow.

Sadly this will be the case nationally when Labour are out, re-building the countries finances is alot harder than throwing massive debt fuelled p*ssup/spending spree and calling it an economic miracle.

hehe

I like the finger pointing....

Johnson: "Livingstone, you wasted too much!"

Livingstone: "no you wasted too much"

Johnson: "no you wasted too much"

Livingstone: "I'm going to take my toys away. Oh bks, I haven't got any to take away. Well you shouldn't have any new toys"

ad infinitum

"He promised to save Londoners money but instead, after just a few months in office, 1. he is pushing up fares above inflation to pay for his own incredible waste of Londoners' money."

And Labour's London Assembly transport spokesperson, Val Shawcross, said: "Boris Johnson has given us no evidence whatsoever for his claim that there is a transport finance black hole.

"2. If the mayor genuinely is concerned about the fares budget then he should have thought twice about abolishing the £25 higher charge for gas guzzlers and should reconsider his expensive plans to replace the bendy bus."
1. What has he wasted to date exactly???

2. So proof that it was all a nasty little class envy charge that had nothing to do with the environment - wrs.

They slipped that piece of mission creep past you without you noticing then. It was supposed to be about congestion, not the enviwonment.

FFS, read the whole story, but take you red tinted glasses off first.

He is filling a hole, fares need to rise, they always will, aslong as there are improvements from it then what is the problem. And Ken stepping in after his demonic fare hikes before then freeze on them before the elections (for what reason? hmmm). Notice labour stepping in at the end and trying to force the 25 C Charge and not get rid of bendy buses. Ken takes this chance to have a pop when he cost us so much money and gave it to all his friends.

We all agree bendy busees are useless, we all agree that the £25 C charge was a joke, both of which are going so what is the problem?

IM, still going to deny your love for Livingstone?

I know you get a kick out of these posts and i should not rise to it.

tongue out

Livingston really is smarting isn't he, BJ's only been in 5 minutes, how much could sacking some directors and a bunch of hangers on cost?

So, Boris gives us a 6% rise pegged to RPI...

Leninslime gave us 33% rise in 2005.......

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/lon...

And 33% again in 2007....

I also think it was Borris who started this "Shag a sg for £15!"

Now that is a saving, perhaps he has to fund their transport...

I really don't see anything requiring an apology, so there are no apologists here.

No doubt you will be here in 2010 when the Tories announce their emergency first budget bleating that it shows that the Tories are not making improvements.

Tube fares with an Oyster card are not excessive. If the books are not balanced, then the choice is either to beg more money from central government (not going to happen with a Tory mayor), to raise council tax or to charge those who use the system. The thrid option is of course the fair one.

Try again, im.
